- January - Pat Robertson is again forced to apologise for another one of his numerous, bizarre and uncalled for comments on the state of the world generally, and Ariel Sharon's health in particular, following earlier statements made regarding the possibility of assassinating President Hugo Chavez!
- March - Pentecostals mark 100 years since the Azusa Street Revival
- June - A team of explorers find what could be the ancient Noah's Ark!
- July - the controversy over the ordination of gay clergy rages on!
- July - Thousand year old book of Psalms discovered in Irish bog.
- September - Palace of Peace and Concord and World Congress of Religions open in Kazakhstan.
- September - The Pope expresses regret over comments made to which the Muslim world took exception prompting demonstrations worldwide. Here - one blogger's take on the issue!
- November - Prominent Evangelical Ted Haggard resigns after homosexual revelations.
- December 18 - CBS crosses the line with obscene 'Joy to the World'
