The LORD God Almighty is his name

With the last few posts I have leaned on the spiritual side - wonder why?
Anyway...

Amos 4:13

He who forms the mountains,
creates the wind,
and reveals his thoughts to man,
he who turns dawn to darkness,
and treads the high places of the earth—
the LORD God Almighty is his name.

Those that would lead us astray

Was thinking about this the other day while contemplating recent events in church hierarchy!
Its interesting how when something comes from the mouth of clergy - we assume that there must be a sound Godly basis behind it!

Malachi 2 has this to say

Admonition for the Priests
7 "For the lips of a priest ought to preserve knowledge, and from his mouth men should seek instruction—because he is the messenger of the LORD Almighty. 8 But you have turned from the way and by your teaching have caused many to stumble; you have violated the covenant with Levi," says the LORD Almighty. 9 "So I have caused you to be despised and humiliated before all the people, because you have not followed my ways but have shown partiality in matters of the law."
Judah Unfaithful
13 Another thing you do: You flood the LORD's altar with tears. You weep and wail because he no longer pays attention to your offerings or accepts them with pleasure from your hands. 14

[referring to the marriage coovenant between God and the Church] You ask, "Why?" It is because the LORD is acting as the witness between you and the wife of your youth, because you have broken faith with her, though she is your partner, the wife of your marriage covenant.

15 Has not the LORD made them one? In flesh and spirit they are his. And why one? Because he was seeking godly offspring. [e] So guard yourself in your spirit, and do not break faith with the wife of your youth.

...and on that cheerful note - I am getting married in a month! lol

What comes first - the "communion" or the Word?

Of failed moratoriums...
Awhile back the Anglican head announced a 'moratorium' which he hoped would keep everyone happy, by suspending the ordination of gay clergy while not grappling with the substance!
Quite clearly that has not worked!
The Church is going to have to deal with the issue one way or the other!
I for one, while not Anglican, am happy with the lead the African church has taken on this issue!
How much can one be expected to compromise for unity's sake? The very essence?

Episcopalians reject ban on gay bishops

"I desperately want to preserve this communion," Robinson said. "But I can't do so at the expense of my own integrity and that of my gay and lesbian brothers and sisters in Christ."

Canon Martyn Minns, a conservative leader and rector of Truro Church in Fairfax, Virginia, said the deputies' vote showed the impossibility of reconciling Anglicans with different views about the Bible and homosexuality.

Good and Evil!

There is such a thing as right and wrong in this world!
Good and evil!
And this is wrong - this is evil:

Group claims killings

A claim posted on a Web site Tuesday said the soldiers were "slaughtered" in accordance with "God's will."

"We announce the good news to our Islamic nation that we executed God's will and slaughtered the two crusader animals we had in captivity," said the claim, reportedly from the Mujahedeen Shura Council, a group linked to al Qaeda.

"And God has given our Emir, Abu Hamza al-Muhajer, the good fortune of carrying out the legitimate court's command in person."

Right Wing to the Extreme

Talk about being RIGHT WING!!! to the core!
Anyone reading this would think the reference was to Switzerland or something!!

Shiver, shiver, shiver

Sorry but the shivers just won't go away!

So I'm keepin tabs on these particular stories!
Next Religious Congress Will Also Include Political Leaders
The second gathering of religious leaders from across the world in Kazakhstan will take place this fall in Astana and have an added dimension as political leaders are also invited to take part.
The first gathering, called the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, which took place in Astana in September 2003, led to condemnation of terrorism by all participating religions and their agreement to pursue further dialog. A total of 120 delegates attended the first Congress from 17 different religious groups, including Islam, Russian Orthodox Christianity, Roman Catholicism, Lutheranism, Judaism, Buddhism, and Taoism.
Invitations to attend the second Congress were sent to 36 leaders of world religions and 32 honorary guests from the political life, Nurtai Abykaev, head of the organizing committee for the Congress said.
Abykayev, who also serves as the Speaker of Kazakhstan’s Senate, said the upcoming gathering would be “devoted to the major issues of religion, society and international security” and would have three plenary sessions. The Congress is expected to result in final communiques and resolutions, he said.
The new Palace of Peace and Harmony, now being built in the capital will be the venue for the Congress. The Palace was designed by Sir Norman Foster, a renowned British architect. It is in the form of a huge shining pyramid of steel and glass, will different sections allowing followers of different religions to follow their own ritual.
Foster’s office declined to make the designer or David Nelson, his lead project architect, available for interviews. One reason for this silence may be hurry. The firm’s press office explains that Astana’s weather, which swings between "40¯c in summer to -40¯c in winter," forced the firm to use pre-built components in the pyramid’s structure. The firm decided to use materials its contractors could build in winter and install in summer, Foster’s office says. The pyramid’s base is concrete; its supporting skeleton consists of steel. More traditional systems, such as those involving brick or concrete structures, probably would have buckled under Kazakhstan’s brutal weather.

Those Italians are on point!

I take back every bad thing I ever said about Italian football!
That was a brilliant display of football the other night!

On what I've seen so far - my teams to win the Cup in descending order:
1. Italy
2. Germany
3. Czech Republic (didn't watch the game but heard they were very impressive)
4. Spain (ditto)
5. Brazil (this is definitely higher placed then they deserve to be, but I had to put them somewhere)
