No pictures!!

Oh the joy of surfing the net from a home dial-up 56k connection in Nairobi, Kenya?
Am i crazy?
No!
What I am, though, is surfing with the "show pictures" box in explorer's advanced internet options unchecked!
That's right - no pictures and I'm lovin it!
Who needs broadband!
As a matter of fact who needs pictures!
I'm thinkin its all just an elaborate ploy to get us all to pay more for our connection!
Or maybe I'm losing it?
Guess that's what happens when your on dial up for as long as I've been!
Anyway, let me get back to my picture free - hassle free surfing!!

Another case of the shivers!!!

Sometime in December I expressed on this blog what I could only then describe as the shivers.

Now some days ago - this!

And this, the centre for world religion? And he the key note speaker?

A vague premonition perhaps? A sign of things to come?

Luke 12:54 - "When you see a cloud rising in the west, immediately you say, 'It's going to rain,' and it does. And when the south wind blows, you say, 'It's going to be hot,' and it is. Hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and the sky. How is it that you don't know how to interpret this present time?

ALMATY (Reuters) - A Kazakh former minister and leading member of the Central Asian state's political opposition was found shot dead on Monday, police said.
The body of Altynbek Sarsenbaiuly, a 43-year-old critic of President Nursultan Nazarbayev's government, was found along with two other corpses lying beside a country road near Almaty, the country's biggest city.
All three men had gunshot wounds, police said in a statement on their official Web site www.police.kz.

He was the second prominent Kazakh opposition figure to die in mysterious circumstances in recent months.
Zamanbek Nurkadilov, a former mayor of Almaty and close ally of Nazarbayev who switched to the opposition in 2004, was found dead in November with three gunshot wounds to the chest and head.
Police have said they suspect Nurkadilov committed suicide, but the opposition said he was murdered and said they could not rule out a political motive.

"...police in the city are still treating the case as a suspected suicide.
“It’s unbelievable,” his wife, the popular singer Makpal Zhunusova, told The Times. “How does a man shoot himself in the heart, then in the head, and then throw himself on the floor?”

Dog Food? Sad!!

The other day a story broke about a lady's purported offer to donate dog food towards famine relief in Kenya!
As it turns out the kind lady wasn't donating dog food! She was preparing a nutritious health mix! Plus maize and money! She was crying on radio the other day after what she's been through! She just makes dog food!
Typical of our local press really!
Interesting how we in Africa not known for being the most generous ourselves are so quick to criticise when others offer help!!
Reminds me of T.D. Jakes trip some months back!
Sad really, that in all probability those shouting the loudest have probably not donated a cent towards famine relief themselves!
Sad!!
