Pain
After practise with "the village" yesterday evening we found ourselves in a deep discussion on pain!
That's right!
Who would have thought such pain existed!
One talked of the pain as their skin was painstakingly peeled off face etc, after sustaining 25 % second degree burns from a gas explosion!
Another, the pain when their broken (bone-sticking-out) foot was manually set.
For me it was 17 injections after a dog bite (mundane in comparison)!
Amazing to think what another paralysed from the neck down would give to experience the pain we all cringe from!
The depth, turmoil and complexity of human experience leaves one, on reflection, in awe!
In awe of what?

I wanted to say thank you for stopping by my place and for your comments. As for pain, I know I have mentioned this before, but truly, one of the best books I have ever read on this topic is "The Body in Pain," by Elaine Scarry. I suspect the publishers are either harvard up or oxford up..but it is fantastic. trust me. if you buy/borrow it and don't like it, I will write an iou saying that I need to buy you at least ten drinks on demand, of your choice. From fanta to oban.
